On occasion, it is necessary for companies to improve job content and change posting practices to avoid having their jobs removed from search results. Here are some frequently asked questions about search quality at Indeed and how it impacts the visibility of jobs.
What is search quality and why does Indeed do it?

Are there rules for job posting?
Job Posting Guidelines are available to help companies recruit successfully on Indeed. This set of do’s and don’ts is useful in understanding what kinds of job content and posting practices create the best possible experience for job seeker. Please note that this information is only a guide. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and, as stated in our terms of service, we always retain the right to undertake such a removal if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest.
Are jobs visible on Indeed immediately after being posted?
Not always. If your job isn’t appearing in search results, it is likely undergoing a quality review. Many, but not all, jobs go through this review when they are posted. The review process can take up to 48 hours.
Why do search quality assessments require that some jobs be sponsored?
Sponsoring a job will not allow fraudulent or predatory content to appear on Indeed, but some legitimate job content does require that a budget be applied. This is because organic visibility is reserved for listings that are the most transparent and are offered by sources most closely connected to the employer offering the job.
Why can’t the same job be posted in multiple locations?
Each opportunity on Indeed should be a legitimate opportunity with a specified location. Job seekers should understand when relocation would be required. For jobs that have broader service areas or regional focus, Indeed allows companies to denote statewide and nationwide job availability. These options may work well for your job opportunity!
Once penalized, can jobs be returned to organic visibility?

Why must duplicate jobs be sponsored?
Sometimes the same job opportunity appears on some combination of an employer’s career site, a recruiter’s site and job boards. Indeed’s guidelines for organic inclusion prioritize the source closest to the employer. As a result, posts from recruiters and job boards may be required to sponsor a job in order for it to appear in search results.
Why can’t I can speak to the quality team?
The role of the search quality team is to fairly apply the values of Indeed in the assessment of jobs and accounts. In order to avoid bias in the performance of this function, the search quality team is not client facing.
