Creative job search integrations

Thousands of publishers display Indeed’s job content, generating billions of job searches and helping job seekers find their dream job all across the web.  These partnerships also help our job advertisers by increasing the volume and diversity of candidates we send to them. We’re excited to highlight some of the more creative integrations offered by our partners!

One of Indeed’s investors, Union Square Ventures – a venture capital firm investing primarily in consumer web services – created a job search site giving access to the job openings at all their portfolio companies.  Job seekers can navigate through over 500 job openings at some of the most innovative technology companies, including Etsy, Foursquare, Twitter, Zynga, and of course, Indeed.

Job seekers no longer need to hunt for Goodwill jobs at individual Goodwill sites. We helped Goodwill Industries create a centralized job search powered by Indeed, so job seekers can easily search Goodwill jobs across all their locations nationwide.

Industry resource sites such as HR.com and FindLaw.com use Indeed’s content to provide the professionals visiting their sites with the most comprehensive job search possible for their niche.

Patch.com, a hyper-local news network targeting over five hundred communities nationwide, offers job search powered by Indeed.  Job seekers can effortlessly find local jobs in their community right on Patch.com – for example, Stamford jobs.

Indeed teamed up with AARP to improve the job search experience on AARP.org.  Now, job seekers age fifty and older have access to all jobs across the web, increasing their opportunity to land a position.

If you are interested in displaying jobs on your website, we’d love to help you.  In addition to adding great content, Indeed’s Publisher Program allows you to generate revenue from clicks your site generates on our pay-per-click job ads.  You can gain immediate access to our publisher tools by creating a publisher account.  If you have any questions you can also contact us directly.

Joining Forces

Joining Forces

Indeed is delighted to have been invited to the White House to join First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden at the launch of their Joining Forces initiative to support military families.

As part of this initiative, we’re proud to announce Indeed Military, a new service dedicated to helping military families find employment. Indeed Military will provide tools for employers to connect quickly and easily with veterans and military spouses seeking employment. In support of the goals of Joining Forces, Indeed will provide employers free access to Indeed Military service for one year. This free service will lower cost per hire by thousands of dollars, providing a clear incentive for employers to seek out military family candidates.

Joining Forces is a national initiative led by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to support military families in the areas of employment, education, and wellness. The initiative is a public/private partnership combining the efforts of government agencies with commitments from private companies to improve the lives of military families.

Starting today, veterans and military spouses can upload their resumes at www.indeed.com/military. Employers can sign up to be notified when employer services launch.

Search Quality

Our goal at Indeed is to provide job seekers with the most comprehensive and relevant search results possible. If there is a job available, we want to ensure it can be found quickly and easily. In order to meet this goal, we have to be very good at telling the difference between good job sites and bad ones.

Job seeker trust in Indeed is our passion. The unfortunate reality of the web is that there are innumerable sites with bad content–irrelevant, duplicate, misleading, and even fraudulent. If we want to maintain job seeker trust, we have to work tirelessly to protect them from job spam.

The fight against search spam has become mainstream news recently. Recently, the NY Times reported that upstart search engine Blekko identified and removed 1.1 million spam sites from its index. Last month, the Times profiled Google’s announcement of changes to their search algorithms that reduced the ranking for millions of web sites affecting 12% of Google searches–billions each month.

Fighting job spam at Indeed is the responsibility of our Search Quality team. In the past quarter we have made a significant investment in this area, tripling the size of the team. We recently completed a comprehensive review of nearly ten thousand Indeed sources, and have developed a clear set of signals to automatically identify and remove poor quality sites.

Our quality measure includes signals such as low site traffic in conjunction with high job counts, or large percentage of jobs duplicated from other sites. Other signals of poor quality include sites with excessive non-recruitment advertising, ones that ask job seekers to pay to apply, or ones that accept applications without permission of the employer. [For further clarification of job board inclusion guidelines, please see our Job Board FAQ.]

Our quality filters are not just site-specific. Even good job sites contain some poor quality postings. We employ additional methodologies to identify and remove individual spam jobs and duplicate listings.

As a result of our efforts, we have seen a steady increase in all measurements of job seeker satisfaction including how much time they spend on Indeed, how likely they are to come back to the site, how many searches they perform, and how many good job listings they find.

We have made a significant investment in search quality, but this is an ongoing process. Poor quality sites erode job seeker trust and hurt the vast majority of employers and job boards who play by the rules. We are committed to improving the quality of our results further and ensuring that Indeed continues to be the world’s best job search engine.
