Job posting growth in all 12 industries: an Industry Employment Trends first

Our May Industry Employment Trends provide the strongest evidence yet of an improving job market. May 2010 shows year-over-year job posting growth in all 12 of the major industries we track. This is the first time we’ve seen positive growth in all sectors since launching Industry Employment Trends in February 2009.

Last month, Healthcare was the only industry showing an annual decline in job postings, but is now showing positive growth with a 3% increase compared to May of last year. Clicks on Healthcare jobs have also increased 37% since May 2009, with the most searched for and posted job title being Medical Assistant.

As Summer begins, Transportation and Hospitality have experienced notable job posting gains.  Transportation jobs have surged in recent months: with a 67% increase, it is growing faster than any other industry.   The Transportation jobs that people have been looking for are strongly proportional to the type of Transportation jobs being posted.  Three of the top five Transportation job titles were for Drivers, while three  of the top four Transportation job searches included the keyword ‘Driver’.  Hospitality job posts are up 49% over a year ago as hotel and restaurant jobs begin to rise heading into the Summer months.
