Piper Jaffray Internet Summit

We were at the Piper Jaffray Global Internet Summit last week. Indeed got some attention early-on when Caroline Little, CEO and publisher of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, talked during her presentation about Indeed and its impact.

I was on a panel with the CEOs of Marchex, Did-it.com and WebSideStory on the topic “Search as a Dominant Marketing Platform - How Far Can it Go?” and I discussed the prospects for Vertical Search in this context.

Compared with the Goldman Sachs Global Internet Conference, there was a lot more focus on China and a bit more Web 2.0 perspective. A highlight was the final keynote panel, featuring a ‘big-picture’ discussion between Jerry Yang, Steve Jurvetson and John Battelle. John has a nice write-up of the conference here.

Indeed in Context

A couple of blogs mentioning Indeed:

Jeff Jarvis uses Indeed as an example in describing Google’s competitive landscape: there are tons of smaller competitors [to Google] who will nip at its heels and do smaller tasks better than big Google can do (e.g., job searching).

Joel Cheesman blogs Indeed’s integration into Bloglines: No need to visit numerous job boards everyday, or risk that the myriad of job board e-mail alerts get sent to your spam filter. Nope, just sign-up for a Bloglines account, sign-up for your Indeed feed, and you’re set. It’s even free. We couldn’t have put it better.
